Chicago, Illinois
An indoor Tower Farm located in the Rotunda between Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 of Chicago O’Hare International Airport grows fresh produce — everything from green beans to lettuce to peppers — year-round for travelers from all over the world.
The O’Hare Urban Garden can grow up to 1,100 plants at once. And yields from those aeroponic crops go to various in-airport restaurants, including Tortas Frontera, Wicker Park Sushi, Wolfgang Puck, and Tuscany Café.
Besides producing nutritious, aromatic food, the indoor farm at O’Hare doubles as a peaceful lounge where passengers can relax between flights.
